Ross & Beth Meyers 1936 Ford Roadster

Ross & Beth Meyers 1936 Ford Roadster

This 1936 Ford Roadster owned by Ross & Beth Meyers is a champion car. You are looking at the winner of the 2025 America's Most Beautiful Roadster Award and the Goodguys Classic Instruments 2025 Street Rod of the Year.

We are super proud that the team building this car chose the COMPUSHIFT by HGM Automotive Electronics to control the 4R70W transmission.

A few details on the build include:

  • Hand-built by Adam Banks and the team at Rad Rides by Troy
  • 100% coach-built body
  • Custom interior by Adam Banks
  • 1957 McCullough supercharged 312 Ford Y-block
  • Bowler Performance custom 4R70W transmission
  • HGM Automotive Electronics COMPUSHIFT stand alone transmission controller

This is the second 1936 Ford built by Troy Trepanier and his team at Rad Rides by Troy for the Meyers. The first build was a Ridler-winning 1936 Ford Coupe in 2007. With this 1936 Ford Roadster the Meyers gave Troy a new challenge - to build a fenderless '36. Given their history, the Meyers basically gave Troy free rein with the build, with no restrictions.

The project used all-new sheetmetal and an entirely new frame. Interestingly, the body was built first and the chassis was then fitted inside it. It features a custom aluminum hood, designed to flow better without fenders. It is sprayed with a modified Porsche aventurine green metallic BASF/Glasurit paint..

It has a 113 inch wheelbase with custom front and rear torsion bars, machined wishbones, Ridetech adjustable shocks, a Winters quick-change rear end and a CPP steering box. The brakes use Wilwood disc internals. The 18 and 19 inch wheels are a custom design by Jake Murray and machined by the Jewell Group. The tires are Excelsior 5.50-18 and 7.00-19.

The engine is highly modified and refined. A McCulloch supercharger is paired with Autotrend EFI throttle bodies and a Fenton intake. Holley electronics are used for the engine management. The transmission is a 4R70W built by Bowler Performance and controlled by our very own HGM Automotive Electronics COMPUSHIFT stand alone transmission controller.

In the interior you can see a one-off aluminum dash with a restored '50 Buick instrument panel. The steering column and steering wheel were custom made. The seat and other soft finishes were stitched by Adam Banks in brown leather.
